UCT is seeking an experienced Sr. Planner to join our team in Hayward, CA! This individual plays a key role in UCT’s business. It provides the up-front work of aligning material demands with supply. In order to provide the business with a beneficial result, it also involves looking for uses of obsolete material and working with various teams to ensure that the plan remains on track. This position requires the ability to plan, maintain and analyze production and sales requirements, compare progress to schedule, resolve scheduling conflicts, assess data and coordinate solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Confer and coordinate with buyers on the status of purchase orders for parts being procured to ensure timely release and completion of work orders
  • Handle all work order creation, releases, completion and closing
  • Trouble-shoot all production control problems and drive them to correct closure
  • Facilitate operations and material status meetings to provide detailed updates on the plan and manage promise dates
  • Review customer required dates with Customer Service and set promise dates
  • Evaluate and coordinate engineering change orders
  • Coordinate rework, scrap, and material, issues from stock ‐ with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, QC and Engineering
  • Work with accounting to resolve production order cost variances
  • Work with Engineering to manage design changes on released product, and coordinate the transition of new products to Manufacturing
  • Identify reorder point/safety stock and product allocation by analyzing sales forecasts and production schedules, requisition needed materials, and manage reports and metrics
  • Possess a detailed understanding of product demand and supply strategies
  • Establish inventory targets to achieve service and financial objectives
  • Maintain supply plan to balance customer demand with supply constraints, optimize inventory and reduce excess and obsolete inventory
  • Participate in process improvement teams to address process or system gaps
  • Monitor material status to ensure continuous product supply and prevent product interruption to the customer
  • Proactively communicate material availability updates to all levels of Sales and Production including potential inventory or customer service risks
  • Prepare, analyze, and present cost, planning, scheduling, and performance information to management
  • Analyze work order variances and help mitigate for future work orders. Provide an explanation to finance for variances.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; engineering BOM reading skills
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with internal customers/suppliers
  • Strong PC skills to include Microsoft Office software suites
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of SAP application a must
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Initiative and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated process improvement abilities
  • Project management capabilities to support new product launches
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work under close and changing deadlines

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • BA/BS degree in business administration, operations management, or CPIM + 3 years additional experience

Experience Requirement:

  • 5+ years relevant experience with working knowledge of quick-turn, low volume, engineer-to-order production environment
