UCT is seeking an experienced and talented Test Equipment Engineer to join our team in Chandler, AZ! The Test Equipment Engineer will be expected to support the automated functional test of semiconductor manufacturing equipment that consists of electromechanical systems and controls including hardware and software. Should be able to understand the main aspects of equipment functional testing and be able to operate, test, and troubleshoot automated testing equipment and systems


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support automated and semi-automated tests of electrical and electromechanical systems.
  • Review and understand the construction and operation of existing automated systems and controls.
  • If required, perform modifications and improvements on existing test equipment. 
  • Support the manufacturing and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and test requirements.
  • Drive the development of qualification test procedures and carry out qualification testing.
  • Prepare reports of results and conclusions for management.
  • Know industry standard on equipment design, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Perform maintenance and calibration of testing equipment
  • Validate test cases that functionally verify new release as well as previously existing functionality.
  • Analyze analog and digital electronic systems and assemblies to and identify failures and repair to component level.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair PC board, PC hardware/software.
  • Perform repairs using schematics/diagrams, multi-meter, oscilloscope along with other tools and equipment to aid with the troubleshooting process.
  • Assemble, upgrade and re-wire electronic products
  • Develop specifications for prototype circuits
  • Service and maintain electronic systems which includes servicing both in situ and remotely
  • Monitor and test to specifications sub-assemblies or systems and approving fit-for-purpose and simulating outcomes on computers.
  • Constructing field instrumentation systems, electronics, and fabricated enclosures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Solid knowledge of electrical theories - analog, power and digital, design principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques.
  • Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with serial communication protocols: Device Net, EtherCAT, RS 485, RS 232.
  • Basic LabView programming and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with automation control (PLC ladder logic) and motion control (servo, stepper, and AC motors).
  • Capable of driving problems to resolution by getting the right resources involved in the problem-solving process.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Experience creating documentation, system diagrams, schematic diagrams, P&ID. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • The individual should be self-motivated, creative, and proactive, able to work with multiple platforms, architectures, and technologies.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related field

Experience Requirement: 

Work Experience:

  • 6 - 10 years of experience with systems design and testing in the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry.
