UCT is seeking a proficient Cost Accountant to join our team in Hayward, CA! The person in this role will be expected to outline their priorities and align with Finance and organizational goals. The accountant will work proactively and aggressively to create and support an evolving Cost Accounting process inclusive of the proper controls, process optimization, and staff development for a growing semiconductor company. Responsible for developing into a strong business partner of the manufacturing and service teams, for ensuring timely and accurate reporting for areas under the defined scope of responsibility, and for leading or participating in a variety of special projects as needed. This position will oversee the application of cost accounting theory and work with external auditors to ensure that the cost accounting and reporting adheres to GAAP standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes inventory and production variances associated with manufacturing work orders, making adjustments when necessary and proactively working with the Operations team to resolve potential BOM/processing issues.
  • Participates in the maintenance of the internal financial control environment ensuring accurate financial statements and safeguarding company assets.
  • Develops understanding of ERP system and become proficient to navigate system and provide necessary information to plant and Organization.
  • Collects and studies data to determine costs of business activity such as materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Analyze standard profit margin
  • Maintains standard cost for customary built systems and update cost for materials and assemblies
  • Reconciles intercompany sales & cost of goods sold
  • Assists in GL to Perpetual Inventory reconciliations
  • Analyzes and resolve work order variances
  • Reconciles Customer and vendor consignment
  • Intercompany profit eliminations
  • Revenue cut-off testing
  • Performs cycle count audit
  • Purchase price variance analysis
  • Performs month-end close and assist with internal and external audits

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Ability to analyze financial data, prepare operational and financial reports, and projections.
  • Strong hands-on experience with an ERP system; SAP is a plus
  • Completes monthly COGS and operating profit analysis and variance analysis on PPV, project close variance, etc.
  • Coordinates with Supply Chain department for scrap, cycle count, warranty issues and review related costs.
  • Working knowledge of standard cost and work order systems
  • Ability to work effectively with line management and corporate Accounting/finance teams
  • Excellent computer skills, MS Office particularly Excel.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • BA/BS Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:

  • Five (5) years Cost Accounting and related experience in the Manufacturing environment; General Accounting experience desired.
