UCT is seeking an Engineering Designer to join our team in Hayward, CA! The Engineering Designer will be responsible for creating drawings that exhibit the detail and method of assembly for a variety of machinery and mechanical devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uses the Agile system in reproducing engineering/manufacturing documentation, such drawings, and bills of materials, parts lists specifications and engineering change orders.
  • Ensures that documentation projects meet established quality standards and deadlines.
  • Coordinates with engineering, production, and other departments in providing design support services.
  • Creates and modifies detailed drawings using CAD hardware and software from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineering.
  • Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Check drawing plots versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standards and ECO/ECR documentation.
  • Prepare proper documentation required by customer to release new parts, drawing, and specs via ECO.
  • Generate customer Bill of Materials. Release and Implements customer ECO.
  • Creates specification and other requirements to Release Build to Print documentation.
  • Provides various design and documentation to support Engineering and Document Control.
  • Receives predetermined work assignments from Engineering Services Manager that are subject to a moderate level of control and review.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of CAD software – Pro Engineer, AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop a plus
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, Operations and other groups to ensure that site delivery and quality issues are met.
  • Working knowledge of MS office Suite and database software
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Visual
  • Working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  •  Degree in Mechanical Design Drafting or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a designer/drafter, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment industry or related industry experience.

Overnight Travel:

  • Work may require out of town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).
