Job Description

UCT is seeking a talented Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Hayward, CA! Work with suppliers and supply chain to ensure the quality of incoming parts through regular audits, identify opportunities for improvement and ultimately improve UCT efficiency and customer success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position requires a highly skilled individual with knowledge managing quality for build to print suppliers. Specific technical knowledge required in the following areas:
  • Liaise with UCT manufacturing operations and global supply chain management organization on supplier quality and engineering issues
  • Work closely with strategic supplier network (AVL)to ensure compliance with quality and performance expectations and requirements of UCT manufacturing operations
  • Work with suppliers and internal customers on continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain/track supplier quality metrics (such as QPPM, DPU, OTD, LAR etc.) and provide feedback as required to suppliers
  • Conduct joint supplier surveys, audits and business reviews
  • Develop and conduct source inspection and Submission plans
  • Implement QA and QC procedures and processes consistent with UCT standard (SSQA)
  • Ensure suppliers comply to quality standards and certification
  • Develop plans to bring supplier to acceptable defect-free delivery of parts
  • Work in unison with other functional groups to meet common objectives
  • Play a prime role in setting and meeting the goals, objectives and targets of the APO
  • This individual will aid in administering the supplier quality program. This position will require frequent travel to suppliers to understand their processes and controls, verify controls are executed as planned, and communicate issues encountered by UCT and work directly with the supplier to improve processes and part quality. This individual will provide executive summaries to the Director of SMT and report out monthly as part of the UCT Quality Ops Review regarding supplier quality-related performance. This individual will obtain and maintain supplier process control information and work with supply chain and suppliers to resolve major quality issues as necessary. This individual will also maintain systematic reporting for suppliers on their quality performance.

Qualification Requirements:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office particularly PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective Supplier and internal UCT interactions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment exhibiting a sense of urgency and proven leadership abilities.
  • Self-starter with a “can-do” attitude.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • BS in Quality/Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering discipline with 10+ years’ experience.
  • ASQC, CQE certified.
  • Certified Auditor to PCI 3000 or 4000.

Experience Requirement: 
Work Experience:

  • 10 years of progressive experience in supplier quality management
  • Technical experience in semiconductor capital equipment and related activities are highly desirable.
  • Experience in commodities such as machining, sheet metal, cables, PCB, electrical boxes, etc. (preferred / not required).
  • Assembly Experience (preferred / not required).
  • Industrial Finishing (material preparation, paint, powder coat - required).

Overnight Travel:

  • Work may require out of town travel depending upon assignment (Global Supplier Qualifications). 25 %.
