UCT is seeking a Design Engineer to join our team in Hayward, CA! This role is responsible for creating drawings that exhibit the detail and method of assembly for a variety of machinery and mechanical devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uses the Agile system in reproducing engineering/manufacturing documentation, such drawings, and bills of materials, parts lists specifications, and engineering change orders.
  • Ensures that documentation projects meet established quality standards and deadlines.
  • Coordinates with engineering, production, and other departments in providing design support services.
  • Creates and modifies detailed drawings using CAD hardware and software from sketches, layouts, or notes provided by engineering.
  • Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of a product. Check drawing plots versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standards and ECO/ECR documentation.
  • Prepare proper documentation required by the customer to release new parts, drawings, and specs via ECO.
  • Generate customer Bill of Materials. Release and Implements customer ECO.
  • Creates specification and other requirements to Release Build to Print documentation.
  • Provides various designs and documentation to support Engineering and Document Control.
  • Receives predetermined work assignments from the Engineering Services Manager that are subject to a moderate level of control and review.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of CAD software – Pro-Engineer, AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop a plus
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, Operations, and other groups to ensure that site delivery and quality issues are met.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database software
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Visual
  • Working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Design Drafting or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a designer/drafter, preferably in the semiconductor capital equipment industry or related industry experience.

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.

Overnight Travel:

  • Work may require out of town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).
