UCT is looking for an experienced CNC Machining Programmer III to join our team in Hayward, CA! The primary role of CNC Machining Programmer III at UCT is responsible for planning, programming and documenting for VMC’s, HMC’s and CNC Lathes using Virtual Gibbs Software. They are also responsible for all jobs before, during and after operation on machine shop floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates programs CNC machining centers (which may include Lathes, Vertical and Horizontal Milling centers) by analyzing and interpreting supplied drawings, blueprints and specifications.
  • Reviews drawings and models for revision changes. Updates programs as needed.
  • Uses SolidWorks software for modeling of machined and assemblies. (Class 1 level)
  • Plans machining by studying drawing and specifications.
  • Operates CAD/CAM software (Gibbs and Virtual Gibbs) to produce G-Code programs for machines.
  • Determines type of work holding devise and plans for material and program.
  • Reads, interprets and converts blueprints before releasing to shop floor.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven skills with HMC’s and/or VMC’s and/or Lathes (exp w/ other equip will be considered).
  • Experienced in both CAD and CAM a plus.
  • Blueprint reading / first piece inspection knowledge, including ability to interpret and apply GD&T.
  • Working knowledge of computers and computer systems.
  • Excellent communication and team skills.

Educational/Certification Requirement

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:

  • 8+ years machining experience.
  • 4+ years programming experience.

Environmental Exposure:

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.

  • May involve exposure to moderate noise levels from printers, faxes, computer etc.

Overnight Travel:

  • Work may require out of town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).
