Ultra Clean Technology to Provide Turnkey Process Module for Technology Leader Photon Dynamic

MENLO PARK, CA, JANUARY 9, 2008—Ultra Clean Technology (Ultra Clean Holdings, Inc. - NASDAQ: UCTT), a leading developer and supplier of critical subsystems for the semiconductor capital equipment industry announced today it has entered into a partnership agreement with Photon Dynamics, Inc. (NASDAQ: PHTN) to manufacture, integrate and test Photon Dynamics’ ArrayCheckerTM test products. The agreement includes ArrayChecker test products of earlier generations as well as current development products. As module manufacturing requires a considerable amount of time and resources - and can have direct impact on equipment development costs, Photon Dynamics, Inc. has chosen to partner with Ultra Clean for these critical systems. The first shipment of Photon Dynamics’ test products will be manufactured in Ultra Clean’s South San Francisco facility in the first quarter of 2008, and is expected to be ready for delivery later the same quarter.  Subsequent manufacturing will take place in the second quarter of 2008 at UCT's Shanghai facility with delivery scheduled for summer 2008. The ArrayChecker product line is Photon Dynamics’ market leading LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) array test system.

Ultra Clean Technology will provide turnkey manufacturing (including highly specialized electromechanical modules) for new and legacy versions of Photon Dynamics' ArrayChecker test products. The systems will be assembled, tested and qualified as part of a large-scale system integration program. The industry’s migration toward larger display panels is driving the need to maximize manufacturing yields. Advanced test equipment thus becomes increasingly critical with each successive product generation.

"Our ability to deliver an end-to-end solution for these unique systems on schedule, in key locations, demonstrates that Ultra Clean has the agility and means to participate in a successful, long-term relationship with Photon Dynamics," remarked Mr. Clarence Granger, Ultra Clean’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Granger continued, "I believe our proven manufacturing expertise, exceptional customer support and sound business practices were significant factors contributing to this new strategic partnership."
