CLarence Granger Elected TO Ultra Clean Technology
Board of Directors

Clarence L. GrangerMENLO PARK, CA, May 13, 2002 — Ultra Clean Technology (UCT), a leading supplier of gas and liquid delivery systems for semiconductor process equipment manufacturers and device makers worldwide, today announced that Clarence L. Granger, president and chief operating officer since 1999, was elected to the corporation's board of directors at the annual shareholder's meeting in Austin, TX.

"Clearly, this is a huge vote of confidence for Clarence and the entire management team," said Yoshifusa "Nick" Nikaido, UCT's chief executive officer and chairman of the board. "With Clarence's industry background, experience and contacts, he will bring a valuable perspective and breadth of knowledge to the board. And, this is the first time that Mitsubishi Corporation has elected a non-Mitsubishi employee to the board of one of its 100% owned subsidiaries. This is an even greater testimony to Clarence's accomplishments at UCT."

Granger joined UCT in April of 1996 as senior vice president of operations and was promoted in 1997 to executive vice president and chief operating officer. In 1999, he assumed his current position of president and COO. Previously, Granger was vice president of media operations for Seagate Technology, and CEO of HMT Technology.
