| Ultra Clean Technology Appoints Key Individuals to New Positions |

MENLO PARK, CA, May 2, 2002 Ultra Clean Technology, a leading supplier of gas and liquid delivery solutions for the semiconductor process equipment industry, today announced the appointment of key individuals to new management positions. These appointments acknowledge significant contributions to the companys unprecedented growth in recent years, and set the leadership structure in place to support future growth. "UCT more than doubled its revenue, profit and headcount in 2000, and our company has responded well to industry demands in large part due to the leadership of these individuals," said Clarence Granger, President and Chief Operating Officer. "Although we are in the midst of an industry-wide downturn, our team must be ready to handle the upturn when it arrives. Strong leadership will continue to be an essential ingredient to our success."
"He has effectively grown the manufacturing and materials organizations to meet our current and future business requirements." Keith received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and served with distinction in the United States Navy as a lieutenant in the Nuclear Submarine Command.
Deborah joined UCT in 1995 as a major account manager and was promoted in 1998 to director of sales for major accounts. In her new position, Deborah will develop strategies for capturing new business opportunities with our existing customer base as well as new business opportunities. Deborahs background includes several years in senior sales management positions, including ten years at Brooks Instruments, where she was most recently manager of the Western region sales and service operation.
Sowmya Krishnan, Ph.D. is promoted to the newly created position of Chief Technical Officer. Dr. Krishnan joined UCT in 1995 shortly after earning her doctorate degree in chemical engineering. "Sowmya has published and overseen numerous technical papers, chaired major industry symposia and influenced industry standards," said Clarence Granger. "Her efforts have kept UCT at the forefront of our industry." In 1998 Dr. Krishnan was promoted to director of technology development. In her new role as Chief Technical Officer, she will continue to provide technical leadership to UCT and to our industry and will oversee research in gas and liquid delivery technology as well as the development of the companys new products. Dr. Krishnan holds masters and doctorate degrees in chemical engineering from Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York.
"Despite many obstacles, Austin began shipping product within just a few months, on time and within budget, and with minimal difficulties." In his new role, Mike will focus on building the infrastructure necessary to support UCTs future business opportunities in Austin. Mikes background includes a variety of positions within operations, materials, quality, engineering and management at Apple Computer, KLA/Tencor, Applied Materials and Kinetics Fluid Systems. He holds a masters degree from Oklahoma City University and a bachelors degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. |
