Ultra Clean Technology was founded in 1991 by Hisayoshi Kobayashi, a senior manager in Mitsubishi Corporation's metals division. He presented a business case to Mitsubishi to bring advanced, ultra clean manufacturing techniques that were developed in Japan to the Silicon Valley. The company began manufacturing product in 1992, and in 1995 achieved ISO 9001 certification. On November 18, 2002, UCT management completed an acquisition agreement with Francisco Partners, the world's largest technology focused buyout firm. Ultra Clean Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Ultra Clean Technology Systems and Service, Inc., announced its initial public offering of common stock on March 24, 2004. The stock trades on Nasdaq under the symbol UCTT. |
